As per the opinion of Acharya rajsekhar sahitya or literature is known as Panchami vidya. It is very pertinent in our times as the whole world literature inculcated the branches like arts, music, dramaturgy & aesthetics. We are easily reminded of the doyens of Sanskrit like Saga Vyasa, Valmiki, Kalidas, Ramayan, Mahabharata, Meghdootam simply by uttering Sanskrit in world literature. The various branches of studies like poetics prosody, dramaturgy & western poetics are the parts of syllabi. The scholars like Kalidasa, Bhavabhuti, Bharavi, Magh, VanaBbhatta, Bharatmuni, Abhinavagupta & Mammata etc. are taught efficiently. Our syllabi comprise the texts like swapnavasavdattam, charudattam, Venisamhar & Abhiynan shakuntalam. Students are also made aware of modern Sanskrit literature. Under choice based credit system, subjects like linguistics and western poetics are also taught at Acharya level. The department of Sahitya tries to have a holistic development of its students.
As per the guidelines of U.G.C the board of studies undertakes the revision & expansion of syllabi.
