Honours and Prizes
 
 

Common man to great politicians to great intellectuals has honoured Dr. Mishra. Delhi Sahitya Kala Parisada honoured him for his incessant services in Sanskrit in the year 1971. In 1983 he was awarded Rastrapati Samman that would pay him Fifty Thousand Rupees annually to the rest of his life. Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Academy prized him All India Sankaracharya Prize of Rs.10,000/- for his literary compositions from the hands of Shri Rajiv Gandhi. He was awarded with the highest award of ‘Viswa Sanskrit Bharat Bharati Puraskar’ of Rs.1,00,000/- in the year 1989 by the President of India Dr. Sankar Dayal Sharma for his ‘Philosophy of Mimansa’ and incessant services for Sanskrit. The present Sankaracharya of Shrungeri Shri Bharati Swami and Shri Abhinava Vidyateertha Maharaja bestowed him with ‘Vidya Bharati’ title. He was awarded as first Scholar of North India by President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma in the presence of Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi in the year 1990. Dr. Mishra was also bestowed with the title ‘Bramharshi’ by Gagatguru Ramanandacharya. Delhi Sanskrit Academy bestowed upon him the award of ‘Sanskrit Seva Samman’ of Rs.15,000/-. Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi also awarded Dr. Mishra with first ‘Sanskrit Seva Puraskar’ constituted in the honour of Dr. Joshi’s Mother Smt. Chandrawati Joshi.


Dr. Mishra was appointed as the coordinator (Chairman) of the panel for Sanskrit, Provincial dialect and Pali language constituted by ‘University Grants Commission’, which advises the Commission for the refinement and advancement of teachings of languages in Indian Universities. Through out his life Dr. Mishra was also holding the post of executive and member of different committees constituted by University Grants Commission.
